Welcome to Rangi Ruru Girls' School

Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in Christchurch is an independent (private) school for Day and Boarding students in Years 7 to 13.

With a reputation for being at the forefront of girls' education, Rangi Ruru is consistently in the top 3% of New Zealand schools for a wide range of academic pursuits. Rangi students also achieve highly for both participation and success across a wide range of cultural, creative and sporting pursuits.

Rangi Ruru is a very safe and friendly school reflecting Christian values. The school has a roll of around 700 students in Years 7 to 13, including 124 boarders who live onsite in the school’s modern Boarding House.

The school has a reputation for excellent teaching. Rangi Ruru is a medium-sized New Zealand school, small enough to ensure that teachers know their students well and are able to offer them individual support, and yet large enough to offer a wide range of subjects and programmes. The school has small classes with specialist teachers providing a supportive and challenging education for all students.

Rangi Ruru aims to inspire, challenge and empower all students to achieve their potential in all pursuits. At Rangi Ruru, we are committed to providing the very best education, equipping girls with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for the next step and beyond, the attitude and dispositions to make things happen for them and a strong set of values to help them make good decisions.

We would love the opportunity to show prospective students and their families around our school. Please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  to arrange a visit or for more information about becoming a student at Rangi Ruru.

Christchurch Earthquake:
As many of you will be aware, Christchurch has had a series of earthquakes since September 2010. These earthquakes have shaken our city, but made us even stronger and closer as a school and wider community.

Rangi Ruru has quality school buildings and these have stood strong (although we have removed a classroom block and the school hall as they were deemed uneconomic to repair). Our Boarding House is one of the most modern in the city and has minor cracks, remaining very secure, warm and habitable. The silver lining of these events, is the opportunity it has afforded us for the school to move forward on revisioning of our school building and spaces plan.

We are exceptionally proud of our students, our staff, our school, our community and remain one of New Zealand's top schools; focused on inspiring, challenging and empowering our girls to reach their potential.

We can proudly say that we offer "an education beyond the ordinary" in one of the most extraordinary cities in the world. Contact us to find out more about what we can offer your daughter.
